Here they are:
First Chaos Cultists and Chosen out of the sprue |
These are my first chaos minis, out of the Dark Vengeance box set, being cleaned up from the hanging sprue parts (I always cut them out of the sprue that way, to avoid unintentional damages) and being verified for completion. They are not glued on the bases yet, I've just snap them together to make the task easier.
This box is a nightmare! Those cultists have very small details, so they need to be clipped VERY carefully. And to know which arm goes where can be a pain - to make things worse, the assembly manual (not that it's really needed, I used more as a visual cue to identify the models) doesn't show examples for all cultist types, so it took much more time than I was used to do this, compared to plain Space Marines, for example. I even had a sigh of envy when I took a look at the Dark Angels on the sprue - much easier to deal with!
I had some bad luck with my box, though - it came sealed, but 2 miniature parts came broken - the shotgun champion came with the weapon chopped in half near the hand, and the helbrute had one of those hanging chains broken as well. Not a deal breaker, those are easy enough to fix, but a disappointment, anyway. But I've already contacted the GW support, and replacements are coming this way :)
Next step will be the cleaning of the mold lines from all of them (WHAT A PAIN! These cultists have REALLY small details) before painting. I see that I'll need to clean all the parts, and even paint some of them before assembling, since they have very small arms compared to the Marines, and some poses will have them getting in the way when painting.
It will be a great hobby experience, since these models are very different from what I'm used to (I used to collect vanilla Space Marines before) so I'll need to change my way of work with them. I'll need to paint human skin a lot, and fabrics, never done that before.
Well, that's all for now. Can you dig it?
